Croatian Cruise Ports at the Seatrade Cruise Global 2022

Croatian Port Authorities of Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Rijeka participated in the world's largest convention dedicated to the cruise industry "Seatrade Cruise Global", which took place after a two-year pause caused by the COVID-19 pandemic from 25 - 28 April 2022 in Miami.
During the convention, conferences and meetings were held at which updated sector data were exchanged and dialogues between cruise lines and port authorities continued towards common objective: sustainable development, security and quality of service. Croatian ports, in joint promotion of cruise tourism in Croatia, were joined by numerous stakeholders in the cruise industry, tourist and maritime agencies. Special interest was expressed in the "Respect the City" initiative, a strategic destination management project.
In the scope of the official visit, the Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik Mato Franković held a meeting with the President of CLIA to agree on further partnership cooperation, which resulted in many significant positive changes in Dubrovnik in managing and establishing sustainable tourism, daily limitations of simultaneous arrivals, introduction of cruise tax and increasing the quality of service provided to visitors, cruise passengers as well as all the other guests.
By the end of 2022, 345 cruise ships are expected to arrive in Dubrovnik, bringing 511,000 passengers, which is fully in line with the plans for sustainable tourism development in the destination. The maximum number of cruise passengers in Dubrovnik during the whole year 2022 is 4,000 passengers simultaneously or an average of two ships alongside.
