CRESPORT (Improving the Cyber REsilience and Security of Adriatic PORTs)

The CRESPORT project aims to ensure safer access to Adriatic ports and improve IT infrastructure. Adriatic ports represent a key stakeholder in current and future maritime transport not only in Italy and Croatia but throughout Europe. In the transport sector, digitalization is a key factor for supply chain competitiveness. The use of digital systems exposes port infrastructure to significant risks: a cyber attack on any port could significantly disrupt the supply chain, and consequently the country's economy. Therefore, considering ports as vulnerable and critical infrastructure, CRESPORT aims to address this common problem through cooperation and joint action, as well as strengthening territorial cohesion. This will require a change in approach, through the adoption of a common strategy to ensure compliance with the main international cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., EU directives, national legislation, IMO recommendations).

The CRESPORT project aims to respond to this challenge and guarantee ports in the region a safer and more resilient IT infrastructure and the introduction of new technologies. The project lasts 30 months – from March 1, 2024 to August 31, 2026.

The lead partner is the Port Authority of Ravenna, and other project partners include: Port Authority of Dubrovnik, Port Authority of Rijeka, Port Authority of Ploče, Central Adriatic Ports Authority, Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, North Adriatic Sea Port Authority – Ports of Venice and Chioggia.

On March 21, 2024, the project kick-off meeting was held at the Port Authority of Ravenna, attended by all project participants, where further guidelines for the successful implementation of the project were agreed upon.

The Port Authority of Dubrovnik plans to use external expertise for the development and testing of cyber resilience and cybersecurity methods and solutions, in accordance with the international legal framework. The main activity for improving cybersecurity will be the modernization of the Port Authority's business software solution.
