Port Security
In the Gruž Bay, deeply recessed into the mainland, the Port of Dubrovnik-Gruž with its terminal is located. Gruž Bay represents a sensitive area for conducting and coordinating maritime traffic, especially taking into account the navigation of various categories of vessels and types of maritime traffic during the season.
International Security Standards
ISPS Code
In order to ensure a satisfactory level of port security, the Dubrovnik Port Authority operates in accordance with the international ISPS Code on the security of maritime ships and ports.
In accordance with international regulations, special attention is paid to the security protection of port operational areas open for international traffic in accordance with the SOLAS Convention and Part A of the ISPS Code.
Compliance with EU Regulations
Port security is aligned with:
• Regulation (EC) No. 725/2004 — application of special measures to enhance maritime security of ships and ports
• Directive 2005/65/EC — conditions and requirements for maritime ships, shipping companies and port facilities
• Security Assessment and Security Plan of the Dubrovnik Port Authority
Inspection Review 2018
Compliance with international and national regulations for port security was confirmed during the inspection review by representatives of the EU Commission, EMSA, USCG and MMPI RH inspectors for the security of the Port of Dubrovnik-Gruž from 18 to 22 June 2018.

Surveillance Systems
Technical Systems
In daily operations, the Dubrovnik Port Authority guarantees high standards of its business processes using:
• VTMS — Vessel Traffic Monitoring System
• Access Control and Surveillance System — access control for persons and vehicles
• RFID Bus Tracking System — Radio Frequency Identification bus tracking
• CIMIS — Croatian Integrated Maritime Information System
With continuous supervision by the competent inspection authority of the Dubrovnik Harbour Master's Office.
Handling of Dangerous Goods
Regulations and Rules
Supervision of the handling of dangerous goods is carried out in accordance with the IMDG Code, specifically:
• Regulations on Handling Dangerous Goods (NN 51/05, 127/10, 34/13 and 88/13) — conditions and methods of transport in maritime traffic, loading and unloading of dangerous goods
• Regulations on Special Safety Measures — for handling dangerous goods in the port area
• Port Rules for the Port of Dubrovnik-Gruž
