The Disney Dream ship, owned by one of the most important family cruise companies in the world, Disney Cruise Line, has arrived in Dubrovnik for the first time. It is one of the most famous family cruise ships in the world out of a total of 9 owned by the company. It was built in 2010 and set sail in 2011. The ship is 340 meters long, making it the longest ship to ever dock in the port of Gruž and can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers on 14 passenger decks, and its design is characterized by an elegant mix of glamour and classic ocean liners from the 1920s.
Disney Dream is known for its combination of luxury cruising and recognizable Disney magic. The ship features themed restaurants, a theater with shows produced by Disney, numerous swimming pools, areas for children and families, and the popular AquaDuck - the first water coaster at sea. A special attraction is the encounters with favorite Disney characters, which is why the ship is extremely popular with families from all over the world.
A plaque exchange ceremony was also held on board. On behalf of the Dubrovnik Port Authority, the Director of the Dubrovnik Port Authority, Zrinka Kulušić, welcomed the Commander Capt. Michele Intartaglia, the crew and passengers, presenting the Captain with a plaque and appropriate gifts. "We are proud to be one of the destinations of your esteemed company, please accept this plaque as a symbol of friendship and a lasting memory of your visit to Dubrovnik," Director Kulušić emphasized on that occasion.
The first arrival of the Disney Dream ship in Dubrovnik confirms the growing interest of the world's leading cruise companies in the Croatian south and further strengthens Dubrovnik's position among the most desirable Mediterranean cruise destinations.
