21.04.2010. AZURA VISIT DUBOVNIK FOR THE FIRST TIME
Cruise ship Azura, of British Company "P&O
Cruises", sailed in Dubrovnik for the first time on Tuesday 20 April 2010
In occasion of inauguration arrival, Cruise Office of
Dubrovnik Tourist Board in collaboration with Dubrovnik Port Authority
organized occasional greeting for the ship and its passengers. Guests from the
ship were welcomed by maids in national costumes which shared them local
promotional gifts. During their stay, guests had on their disposal information
spot with tourist guides and brochures of Dubrovnik. Cruise ship Azura will
visit Dubrovnik six times this year.
19.03.2010. INAUGURAL CALL OF MSC MAGNIFICA
The latest edition to the MSC fleet "Magnifica"
arrived on Friday March 19th, for the first time in Dubrovnik this morning with 2479 passengers
and with a crew of 989.
A
special welcome was organised for the cruise ship MSC Magnifica and its passengers
during the inaugural arrival of this ship in Dubrovnik.
Passengers on the ship were treated to a Dubrovnik welcome ceremony, by Dubrovnik City Orchestra
and gifts, shared by girls in national traditional costumes, to remember their
first visit to Croatia.
The above project is one of the tasks of Cruise
Office, which is jointly formed between Dubrovnik Port Authority and Dubrovnik
Tourist Board,
The office coordinates marketing activities that
promote Dubrovnik
as one of the most attractive Mediterranean destinations for cruise travel,
working towards raising the quality of the destination during the stay of
visitors.
The ships captain, Giulianno Bossi, welcomed guests
from Dubrovnik,
representatives of the City, tourist office, port authority, journalists and
travel agencies on this mega floating hotel. Captain Bossi commented ?I have
seen many positive improvements and new facilities in Dubrovnik after my last visit one any a half
years ago.?
The ship offers its passengers three swimming pools,
one with a retractable roof, bowling alley, tennis courts, basketball, 1200
seat theatre, cinema and fitness centre. It even has a billiards room with a
hydraulically controlled table that automatically levels the table in all sea
conditions.

05.03.2009. FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT BETWEEN MSC CRUISES AND DUBROVNIK HOSPITAL

On Thursday, March 5th 2009 a Framework Agreement on Cooperation is signed between Dubrovnik General Hospital and MSC Cruises Croatia.
The agreement is very important since 93 MSC calls at Dubrovnik are scheduled between beginning April and mid November of this year. Besides MSC Poesia that is scheduled to call Dubrovnik every Friday, two more MSC ships will be visiting Dubrovnik regularly throughout the summer season on their 8-day Mediterranean cruises ? MSC Musica, every Saturday and MSC Armonia, every Sunday. MSC is not only the very first company to sign an agreement with Dubrovnik Hospital, but also the only one that offers to Croatian passengers a possibility to embark three afore mentioned MSC ships at Dubrovnik port. This company keeps growing and each year a newbuilt or two joins the fleet. In 2010 MSC plans to call Dubrovnik 92 times and has announced regular weekly calls also for 2011 and 2012.

MSC Crociere currently has the most modern fleet in the world with nine ships: MSC Fantasia - the largest ship ever built for a European ship owner - MSC Poesia, MSC Orchestra, MSC Musica, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Armonia, MSC Opera, MSC Lirica, MSC Melody cruising in the Mediterranean all year round, Northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, North and South America, the Indian Ocean and South Africa. MSC Splendida and MSC Magnifica will be respectively launched in 2009 and 2010. MSC POESIA
Dubrovnik Port Authority for the last time this year accompanied its regular guest MSC Poesia, with hope that MSC Poesia will be seen in Dubrovnik again next year. MSC Poesia is one out of three MSC ships regularly visiting Dubrovnik.

MILLIONTH PASSENGER
Dubrovnik Port Authority this year for the first time have million passengers. Millionth passenger came by regular local line with vessel ?Postira? from Kalamota.
In the year 2008. Dubrovnik Port will have more than million passengers, with around 500 thousand local passengers, 100 thousand international line passengers and more than 500 thousand passengers from cruise ships.
OPEN NEW OPERATIVE COAST
Dubrovnik Port Authority is pleased to announce that in July, 2008, has officially opened for operations a new 360m long peer in port of Gruž, as a part of its continuous effort to further improve port infrastructure and facilities, contributing to the overall development of Croatia as one of the preferred cruise ship destinations.
The completion of the construction of remaining cruise ship peers is expected in time for the 2009 season, when port of Gruž will have available for operational use total of 1200 m of peers with 11m of depth, allowing for the three mega cruise ships to be moored at the same time.
Parallel to this project, Dubrovnik Port Authority is developing a project on construction of port suprastructures, including cruise ship passenger terminal, shopping malls and business facilities, along with aquarium, museums and auditorium. Dubrovnik Port Authority is in process of determining Public private partnership model (BOT) while searching for potential investors.
When completed, this area will be of vital importance not only for its highest standards of services delivered to the cruise ship industry, but also to the local residents for its social and commercial significance, becoming one of the future landmarks of Dubrovnik.

SECURITY REHEARSAL IN PORT DUBROVNIK
General security rehearsal was done in Port Dubrovnik 30. May, 2008. On general rehearsal were present all public authorities in duty to perform security on the port area.
Rehearsal was based on assumptions of treat to national safety, port safety, ships and people.


STUDY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF CRUISING TOURISM IN CROATIA
