CRUISE TRIPS
Cruising tourism became popular relatively late if we look on to other types of tourism. The first boat was built exclusively for cruising trips around North America, Oceanic was launched into the sea in 1965 for the Home Lines Company, and some chronologists find that as a begging of modern cruising. Others say that that was 19.12.1966 when Norwegian Caribbean Line became first company who offered whole year time table of cruise trips, with Sunwards boat who was offered to wider market. After 1960 begins real development of cruising tourism as a product for mass market. In that time star cruise trips to Caribbean Islands with passenger from USA and Canada. In 1990 trend of cruising caught Europe especially Great Britain after that Asian and Pacific Area. Development of cruising tourism in last two decades is impressive, demand for cruising increased 50% in seven year period from 1989 to 1996 and than again 50% in four year period from 1996 to 2000. In 2006 total number of passenger on cruiser boats estimates around 16 million, and if we look 1995 that shows increase of 2,5 time. Similar trend expects to happen in future and estimates are that in 2011 there will be 20 million passengers on cruising trips around the world. Main market of cruising trips is North America (USA and Canada) which in 2005 generated around 9,4 million passengers or 65% of total demand in cruising. Market of North America increased from 1980 to 2003 with average annual rate of 8,4%, and in 2004 and 2005 increase in demand concerning previous year was 8,5% or 5,6%. European market where dominates Great Britain Market, second represented in world, with 3,2 million passengers and part around 22% of total world cruising demand in 2005.
